11/22/1963: Remembering the death (and life) of JFK

As the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination looms, bookstores are making way for lotsa new titles. I review nearly a dozen of them in the latest issue of BookPage (check out BookPage.com). “Anything new?” you ask. Well, yeah …

Remembering Maureen O’Hara

Just received a gorgeous new book — Maureen O’Hara: The Biography — from the University Press of Kentucky. Happy 50th, South Coast Rep!

In the latest (September) issue of Orange Coast, I check in with Marc Masterson, artistic director of South Coast Repertory, as he reflects on the prestigious theatre company’s 50th anniversary.

In the same issue, I check in with Showtime and its new documentary unit—which is taking aim at provocative subjects (Dick Cheney, anyone?). I’m looking forward to the upcoming docs on Richard Pryor and Suge Knight.

Catching up with the Bluths

If you’re currently catching up with the zany Bluths of “Arrested Development” via Netflix, you might wanna check out the May issue of Orange Coast magazine. I did a Snapshot interview with series creator Mitch Hurwitz. Hurwitz, who hails from O.C., reveals what it was like to return to the cult series—and how the Bluths are like wild boars! (Curious? Then read the piece!) On www.orangecoast.com, there are additional quotes posted.
